Burrill Lake is located some 4 km south of Ulladulla.  The aboriginal name for the area was Burrill (with the emphasis on the last syllable) which means wallaby.

Burrill Lake became established as a popular tourist centre during the early 1920s, when there were only four permanent dwellings.  Before there was any township, a ‘canvas city’ would spring up at holiday times.

Burrill Lake today is a quiet, picturesque lake and ocean resort.  It offers wind surfing, ocean and lake fishing, ocean and lake swimming, water skiing, scenic drives, or a visit to the Tabourie Museum, 6 kms south along the Princes Highway.
